Making a Difference for Animals & Eating Delicious Cupcakes!

Sweet Cheeks Vegan Bakery has been baking up a storm and making a difference for animals in NYC! It’s a tough job, but someone’s got do it!

Sweet Cheeks Vegan Bakery was delighted to sponsor VegNews Magazine’s Indie Media Powerhouse of 2011, Our Hen House’s Hen Party on November 2. We celebrated Our Hen House’s Co-Founder and Executive Director Jasmin Singer’s birthday. We had lots of fun, raised some funds, and listened to comedy from funny man Myq Kaplan (NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” finalist). Guests enjoyed our delicious signature chocolate strawberry and vanilla coconut cupcakes!

We also catered New Yorkers for Clean, Livable & Safe Streets’ (NYCLASS) Happy Hour for Horses on November 14. NYC Council Members Danny Dromm, Jessica Lappin and Melissa Mark-

Viverito attended, as well as NY State Director of the Humane Society of the United States, Patrick Kwan. Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito gave us a special shout-out during her speech. Fellow animal lovers learned how NYCLASS is working to replace NYC’s horse-drawn carriages with electric, emission-free replicas of vintage cars. Guests’ favorite cupcake was our special chocolate mint chip!

NYC Veggie Food Festival

On April 3, 2011 Sweet Cheeks Vegan Bakery participated in New York City’s first Veggie Food Festival to raise awareness of the benefits of vegetarian and vegan lifestyles.

Vendors, musicians, authors, chefs, and all sorts of animal friendly entrepreneurs participated in this incredible all-day event, which attracted over 5,000 New Yorkers. It was truly an amazing experience, with the line wrapped around a few city blocks. Next year’s festival will definitely need a much bigger space!

An Excellent Day for Cupcakes!

Today was a beautiful Autumn Sunday in NYC! From the Upper West Side to the Lower East, Sweet Cheeks Vegan Bakery made New Yorkers happy with some delicious vegan sweets! Cupcake display at party

I packed up my boyfriend yesterday for some manly bonding and camping with our dear friends Dean and Christian, with their promise that they would have him back to me this early morning for an extra girly day of cupcakes. They delivered and we were off to Riverside Park for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) 1st Annual Walk! We met Emme Jacob, fabulous plus-size model, although she’s not really plus at all, and sold many cholesterol and cruelty free cupcakes. 1/3 of our sales went to support NEDA!

We met many lovely people and had a wonderful morning, but had some cupcakes left over. We decided to head down to Tompkins Square Park for NYC’s VegFest to meet our Farm Sanctuary friends! We sold another four dozen cupcakes to support Farm Sanctuary, who works to end cruelty to farm animals and promotes compassionate living through rescue, education and advocacy!!

Next we headed to Stogo for some amazing organic dairy-free ice cream! The manager tasted our cupcakes and LOVED them! You may see Sweet Cheeks Vegan Cupcakes at Stogo on 2nd Ave and 10th Street soon. So keep your eyes peeled!

My dog, Mia, eyeing the cupcakes

On the way home we passed a sweet homeless lady. I ran after her and gave her a dozen cupcakes. Her reaction made my day. Utter astonishment, “Oh my goodness, thank you so much.” We gave out another dozen to homeless people on the way home, and it was the best part of our day.

An excellent day for cupcakes, from the Upper West to the Lower East, from NEDA to VegFest, and Farm Sanctuary to Stogo, and that sweet lady’s shock – a Perfect Day.

A perfect day for Sweet Cheeks Vegan Cupcakes!

Baking proves an apt metaphor

While you can make a website without breaking a few eggs, that doesn’t make it easy. Please forgive any problems you encounter as I perfect the new website — better still, forgive, then email them to us at info@sweetcheeksvb.com
